The KMQ wagons (1-315) came about as a clever fix when the Victorian Railways needed more container wagons but couldn’t afford to build new ones. Old U, T, and KAB wagons had their bodies removed, leaving just the underframe, which was then topped with a steel chequer plate floor and container mounts. Picture courtesy Geoff Winkler
